Eskilstuna collects textil waste using the Optibag technology

From September, residents of the towns of Eskilstuna and Strängnäs in Sweden can sort their textiles at home. The initiative to collect textiles in pink bags separately allows easier recycling of clothes and other textiles, from individual socks to the shirt shrunk in the wash.

According to Avfall Sverige's investigations, each Swede produces about 8 kilograms of textile waste each year. Human Bridge, together with several stakeholders, launched a project in which partners with established and flexible collection systems were sought. We contacted them and discussed together, so we are now launching the pink bag for everyone who allows color sorting in Eskilstuna and Strängnäs, says Kent Briby, Production Manager at Eskilstuna Strängnäs Energy and Environment Department, Environment & Development.
